4-Directions is an miniature installation for a wireless video tele-robot (created by Graham
Smith). The robot can navigate through four tunnels and choose it's next point
of exploration by mounting a slowly revolving turntable in the centre of the
This piece was made for
the group exhibition The Electric Skin (1995), which consisted of a
'city' of miniature installations for the tele-robot. Exhibited physically
at Gallery 401 in Toronto, the robot was controlled and the work viewed, remotely
at various arts centres in Canada, Holland, Japan and California.
